Jacolby Satterwhite / Reifying Desire Series
A synthesis of CG technology, video, drawing and performance, The Reifying Desire Series is a surrealist narrative and creation myth based on queer phenomenology. The title stems from Satterwhite’s on-going collaboration with his mother’s drawings, which depict her desire for a utopian domestic structure. Incorporating 3D-modeled versions of her sketches, animated figures, and the artist's own body, the work maps out a queer ideological allegory born from complex socio-cultural influences.
