Presley Martin / Free Happiness
The Free Happiness project is a performance that draws on the Aztec tradition of making ritual sculptures of popped amaranth. The tasty, nutritious amaranth candy - distributed for free over a two-day period - will contain Palmer amaranth, the pesticide resistant “super weed” that is hindering corporate monoculture all over the country. Free Happiness is a model of resistance against man-made pesticides that are ubiquitous in our environment, and even our own bodies. Look for the Free Happiness cart travelling up and down 14th Street.

Date:

Friday, October 5 and Saturday, October 6 from 11am-6pm

Location:

The performance will begin and end at First Avenue and 14th Street, and move to and from the High Line, with stops in Union Square.
