Rory Golden / No Reenactments Without Prior Permission
In this work, video shorts are created through the participation of the public who share stories of romantic failures and triumphs with the artist. Dating disasters, bad breakups, fickle failures – or delicious starry-eyed interludes – are re-imagined as high drama, soap opera-esque mini-vignettes about relationships. The artist creates iPhone videos using tiny dolls as puppets, to be distributed via email, text message, and social media. Look for 14th Street strollers with iPads screening videos; instructional postcards on mini kiosks; and the artist traversing 14th Street reciting love song lyrics as if he is talking on the phone – but seeking permission to re-enact your stories in mini-movies about heartache, desire, or love’s fulfillment.

Date:

October 5, 7, 9, 12, 14 from 10am-12pm and from 4-6pm

Location:

Postcards will be tacked to temporary walls and videos will be streamed on iPads throughout 14th Street.
