Michele Brody / Presencing
Rows of trees, poles, and posts are wrapped with lace fabric at the height of the artist to record the memory of the presence of her body walking along 14th Street. The lace is sewn with a heavy seam to mimic the spinal cord, or a freshly stitched-up wound to emphasize the verticality of the ubiquitous cylindrical street elements we pass everyday.

Date:

October 5-15

Location:

The project will be installed on the trees on 14th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, the trees and scaffolding at Irving Place between 13th Street and 14th Street, and the trees and scaffolding on 14th Street between Fifth and Eighth Avenues
