Softwalks activates sidewalk sheds by providing a kit of parts to create more functional public places. The kit is designed with placemaking in mind, activating our desires to sit, chat, and appreciate environments of interest. In doing so, Softwalks empowers individuals, business owners, and communities to choose what is most appropriate or useful for a shed in their neighborhood, transforming an eyesore into a community asset.

Friday, October 5 from 4-7pm, Saturdays, October 6 and 13 from 1-5pm, Sunday, October 7 from 1-4pm
Location:
The project will be installed on the north side of 14th Street, between Ninth Avenue and Tenth Avenue.

Howard Chambers and Bland Hoke are recent graduates from Parsons' new Trsndiciplinary design MFA program. Softwalks is a collaborative endeavor that builds fucntion and community upon existing urban structures.
