Patch
In this performance and intervention, potholes are patched and highlighted to emphasize resiliency in the cyclical relationship between failure and repair. Handwritten notes with meditations on fluid thinking, and the feeling of purpose instead of futility, are planted and buried beneath the fillings. As interruptions test the patience of city users and maintainers, breaks in asphalt surfaces become traces of interactions, and evidence of continuing conflict between fixed expectations and fluctuating conditions.
Date:
October 9-15
Location:
Along 14th Street between Broadway and Second Avenue.
